$OUSD Is Live on Catena
Catena supports $OUSD from day one.
Starting today, businesses on Catena can hold $OUSD in their accounts alongside USDC and give their AI agents governed access to use it. Over the coming weeks, Catena will extend $OUSD access to more customers and their agents.
$OUSD is a USD-backed stablecoin designed and launched by Open Standard, and Catena is an official Open Standard partner. $OUSD is designed as shared infrastructure, with governance shaped by participating businesses and no fees to mint or redeem.
For Catena, that model is compelling for agentic commerce. Agents need to transact across a wide market of services and vendors, and broader adoption of a shared dollar can make more of that market accessible to them. Fee-free minting and redemption also reduce a source of cost as dollars move into and out of stablecoins. Catena gives businesses governed agent access to that infrastructure.
$OUSD support follows Catena’s launch on Arc with USDC and its support for agent payment protocols including x402 and MPP. Catena will keep adding the stablecoins, networks, and currencies its customers and their agents need. The controls stay the same.
Catena is a new kind of financial platform for AI-operated businesses and their agents. It brings together accounts, fiat and stablecoin money movement, agent identity, policies and controls, and a complete evidence trail in one system. The business sets policy once, and it applies whether an agent pays in $OUSD, in USDC, or over traditional rails. Adding $OUSD expands what an agent can pay with. It does not change who is in control.
Catena moves funds seamlessly between $OUSD, USDC, and fiat dollars as needed, so agents can pay in whatever form a counterparty accepts. Agents should not be locked into a single payment rail, stablecoin, blockchain, or payment protocol. Applying the same controls across multiple rails gives businesses more flexibility to work with the vendors and customers they choose.
Stablecoins made the dollar programmable, but that does not make an agent safe by default. On Catena, policy is enforced in four layers: AI guardrails at the agent, the Catena agent governance and policy platform, signer policy in secure hardware, and smart contracts on-chain. Funds cannot move on the agent’s say-so alone, or on Catena’s, and every action leaves a record the business can verify afterward.
